Ukraine has announced the commencement of mass production for a new locally engineered interceptor drone to enhance its aerial protection systems. Three initial producers have started manufacturing, with 11 more preparing to set up production lines, the defence ministry stated on Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Tested in Battlefield Situations

The drones utilize a nationally created technology known as “Octopus” engineered to intercept Shahed drones. The system underwent testing in combat and proved effective “at night, amid electronic warfare and flying low,” the ministry stated. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set an ambitious goal of producing up to 1,000 interceptors daily.

Recent Attack on the Capital Described as Deliberate

The Ukrainian president described Moscow's most recent assault on Ukraine as “intentional, premeditated and brutal” after six individuals lost their lives and many others wounded in a wave of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv.
