Toronto Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Showdown Against defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder was instrumental for the Astros winning the World Series in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays reached their maiden World Series since the 1993 season by beating the Mariners in the seventh game seven of the ALCS.

Down 3-1, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh frame, propelling the sole Canadian team in the majors to a four games to three victory in the seven-game series. They will now face the defending champions, holders of the defending champions, in the forthcoming World Series.

"It's incredible for our team, the city, Canada," said Springer, a star of the Astros team that won the 2017 title. "What an amazing experience."

Springer has now hit 23 total October home runs, making him third all-time trailing only Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of another player on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that moment other than George Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, despite leading the early in the series, are still the one club yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Wilson commented "certainly that it's going to sting" in the wake of his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but commended their performance this season.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we had to come out on the losing end of the series," he remarked.

Toronto's team secured the World Series on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Dodgers in the opener on this Friday.
