It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a side that has accomplished all there is.

It needed until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It is hard for their hitters to possess a record if not provided the chance.

Ultimately, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to deliver her newest gem.

Then best known as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her debut and seven world titles have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not come up short.

Whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Many contend the case for championship match pressure. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a disappointing period because I feel like my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your fighting spirit activate and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single came off the opening delivery and from there the right-hander was underway.

"The possibility to go out there and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

Once she was dismissed the team needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the belief to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we know we can achieve it."

Those words will be the last Australia's opponents at this World Cup want to hear.

During the last week a sense they will win from any position has grown stronger - this victory succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she later said she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

But while she later admitted those injuries have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this tournament is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as leader.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
