Soccer Analyst Sutton Battles Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions
The Gunners' 10-game victorious run came to an end by the Black Cats prior to the global break, but can the English top division frontrunners bounce back against local foes Spurs this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, versus AI, readers and a variety of special visitors.
For the twelfth round, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.
The singer's latest record, the new release, is available on the weekend.
Soccer and Family Experiences
Olly is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a star of several Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not planning a professional return as a footballer.
"{I actually played in a benefit game the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "My team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!
"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.
"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or son chooses to play instead."
Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.
"I will not push football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday soccer team," he said.
"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a period too.
"My father coached with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He managed our team for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their offense is now more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.
I still think this game will be fairly close, though. Burnley are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.
This smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.
The expert's forecast: 1-2
The singer's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their past two matches - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, the Hammers won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.
West Ham's only on the road win this season came at Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno was previously Forest manager.
So, what on earth do I go with here - will it be West Ham extending their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?
I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I believe what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
The guest's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under Nuno. 2-2
The algorithm's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were considered one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season began, but they have impressed a several people under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their last four matches.
My son told me to get Brentford striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
Thiago will probably find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to select him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.
They have not had great success on the road this season, and the Seagulls are always strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to hit them on the break but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a danger.
The analyst's forecast: 2-1
Olly's view: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality proves to be quite tight. 1-1
AI's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a huge game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six matches.
Fulham have got plenty of quality in their squad but it nonetheless seems like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.
Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.
Their display in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not seen any other team rough up the Gunners like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.
The logical choice to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the end of last month.
However I am not choose that. Rather, I truly need to continue going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they clearly love to prove me wrong.
Looking at the home side's home record, the only team they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be extremely eager for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will pick up three points.
Sutton's prediction: 1-0
The guest's prediction: I know Sunderland are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a bad streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0
The algorithm's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a hard one to predict. The Reds have lost seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but might they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
