Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for doubts to be raised about his position after another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got a lot of backing from above,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and earn three points of course but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that people question you.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the belief. However I've not talked to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented recurring failings from his team in their Champions League loss, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a phase like this with performances like these.”

He stated, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we’re always going to compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, show everyone again what this club is about and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
