Pat Bamford Joins the Blades After Leading Abusive Chants About Manager Wilder
The striker is now a member of the Championship side only half a year after starting derogatory songs targeting the team's coach, Chris Wilder.
The 32-year-old striker, a free agent after departing from Leeds, has put pen to paper on a agreement joining the Championship club in difficulty until January. Bamford's lengthy time with Leeds finished through agreement this past summer.
One of Bamford’s last memorable actions as a Leeds player involved leading insulting chants about Chris Wilder during the club’s promotion party in April. Currently, the one-cap England international will feature for Wilder as the Blades’ manager seeks to rescue his beloved club out of the drop zone.
Previous History Between the Striker & Wilder
Both men had a past prior to Leeds earned promotion to the Premier League last season while Sheffield United were defeated in the playoff final by Sunderland. Wilder called Bamford as a "muppet" when the situation was different in 2018-19 and Sheffield United won direct promotion while Leeds United fell short in the promotion playoffs.
Reconciliation & Moving Forward

The Wilder chant spread widely this spring. An apologetic Bamford along with Leeds boss, Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the following day.
Chris Wilder commented back then: “Spoke with Pat yesterday and I’ve no problem at all with that. I’m not sure regarding the language from a fellow pro! But I valued and admired him giving me a call.
“We spent a short while and the same again I talked with Daniel Farke too and we had a longer discussion with him and he is a super guy, a top guy. Back in my playing days we would dish it out and accept it and that is an integral part of football at every level, including a Sunday morning. I have absolutely no issue. I'm fine with the situation and I told him that to Patrick.”

Bamford featured in 18 appearances with Leeds United in the previous campaign however the ex- Forest, Chelsea FC and Boro player has struggled with fitness issues over the past few seasons.
