The imminent arrival of three new gambling venues in the nation's largest city has been approved, fueling conversation over economic benefits and community impacts while gambling activity expands throughout the United States.

A state regulatory panel has endorsed a trio of planned gambling projects—two in the borough of Queens and one in Bronx. The board concluded the developments are projected to create numerous positions while also yield billions in government income in the following decade.

The official oversight agency will probably uphold the board's recommendation, which would clear the path for the casinos to launch within the upcoming years.

An Ongoing Debate: Revenue Source or Social Ill?
