Both Deceased Students Identified in the Providence Campus Incident as Law Enforcement Persist in Hunt for Killer.

Both young individuals who lost their lives in the weekend's violent attack at Brown University were honored at the start of the week – amid a widespread hunt for their assailant continued following the freeing by local law enforcement of the single suspect questioned in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, as stated by the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a service on Sunday.

She served as second-in-command of Brown’s branch of the campus GOP group, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also shared condolences on social media, stating: “There are no words. Thinking of her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, from Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the Ivy League university, family members said.

Umurzokov’s identity was officially acknowledged by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He harbored grand aspirations of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.

Details of the Attack

An additional nine individuals were wounded in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Authorities said late Sunday that a 24-year-old male detained in a raid at a hotel about 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“There is a killer at large,” said the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and head another way, and that is the current situation over the last 24 hours or so.”

Public Fear

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “This will probably generate renewed concern for our city”.

The assailant discharged a weapon inside a classroom in the engineering building on over the weekend, firing more than 40 rounds from a handgun, a law enforcement official informed the Associated Press.

Officers that raided the inn recovered two firearms and two loaded 30-round magazines when the individual was detained, the news agency reported.

Condition of the Injured

Among those wounded, one pupil was released from the hospital, stated Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in serious yet stable state, and one was in critical condition, police said on Sunday.

An educational institution, a private K-12 school in Durham, North Carolina, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

Additional Memorials

Cook was honored at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A reverend stated, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only during her upbringing... but at Brown she was an incredible light in that specific location as well.”

Martin Bertao, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the group. “Ella was known for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she worked for her branch and peers,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the student's death in a message. “We extend our sincere condolences to his relatives, loved ones, and peers and grieve for of his bright future.”

The weekend's murders at Brown, the country's seventh most historic higher education institution with about over seven thousand undergraduate and postgraduate students, happened during one of at least 392 shooting incidents documented across the United States so far in this year, according to records. Monday was the 349th day of the year.
